When you’re moving with your family, the list of considerations just seem to grow longer and longer. You need to think of several factors, including schools, community amenities, and the overall atmosphere of the community. Specific lifestyle needs also need to be considered.
The following neighborhoods are great places to start your home search in Scottsdale.
- South Scottsdale
Often defined as the area along McKellips Road north to Thomas Road, South Scottsdale is one of the city’s most family-friendly neighborhoods. A large chunk of the local population is composed of young families with kids.
South Scottsdale used to be known as the “working class area” of the city, but today it’s more recognized as a creative hub. Art galleries line the streets, while Scottsdale’s Art Alliance is based in the neighborhood.
The entry of Arizona State University’s new research center SkySong in South Scottsdale also made the community a desirable area for local businesses and even larger enterprises. Tempe is also located a short drive away.
- Old Town Scottsdale
Young families will also find an inclusive community in the historic district of Old Town Scottsdale. The cultural heart of the city is home to a variety of real estate options (in wide-ranging prices), and a plethora of community amenities and recreational features.
Old Town’s streets are lined with restaurants and retail shops. Come night time, the neighborhood buzzes with activity thanks to its night life scene. That said, Old Town is incredibly pedestrian-friendly and conveniently located. A couple of Scottsdale’s best schools are also located a short distance away from the neighborhood.
- The Shea Corridor
Shea Corridor is one of the most attractive places to live in Scottsdale, mostly because of its proximity to the Shea Boulevard, one of the city’s main thoroughfares. But this long road isn’t the only thing that makes Shea Corridor ideal for young families.
For one, housing options are teeming in Shea Corridor. Two, the city’s most sought-after communities (Gainey Ranch and McCormick Ranch) are both located in the area. Three, there are plenty of educational and recreational opportunities in the neighborhood. The growth in Shea Corridor is so astounding, it’s one of the fastest growing markets in the Greater Phoenix area.
- Paradise Valley
Paradise Valley is, without a doubt, one of the most sought-after places to live in the Phoenix metro area. It’s naturally beautiful, filled with culture, and most of all, family-friendly. The wide open spaces in the area are great for outdoor adventures for the whole family, while the fresh air and the breathtaking views are all conducive to overall health.
Proximity to modern conveniences is also not an issue− Scottsdale and Phoenix’s hustle and bustle are all a relatively short drive away. But if you’re worried about traffic, don’t be. Paradise Valley manages to retain its peace and serenity. Did we mention great schools and colleges are located nearby?
